About the artist Gallery Art Cards
Dan Ostler began painting as a hobby in 1998 soon after after retiring from the Canadian Forces. After a career as a military officer specializing in medical laboratory sciences Mr Ostler was much surprised to find he had an artistic talent waiting to emerge. Inspired by the striking scenery of Vancouver Island and armed with a life long habit of "doodling" on desk blotters and phone books, he soon developed a vibrant and near realistic style with watercolours that is as technically challenging as it is attention getting. Today Mr Ostler works from his studio in Ladysmith producing a range of inspired works on varied themes in both watercolour and acrylic.
